Google has removed 71,132 content in May and 83,613 in June due to user complaints in India.
Google removed 6,34,357 content in May and 5,26,866 in June as a result of automatic detection without complaints from users. Google has issued these monthly reports as part of India's IT rules, which came into force in India on May 26.
In its first statement, Google said it received 27,700 complaints from individual users in India in April this year. Of these, 59,350 content was removed due to local laws and personal rights. In its report for May, it said it had received "34,883 complaints from individual users, resulting in 71,132 content being removed.
So far, a maximum of 83,613 content was removed as a result of user complaints in June. This includes copyright (83,054), trademark (532), fake news (14), violations (4), other violations (2), graphic sexual content (1) and defamation (1). The contents were removed under the impersonation section (3) and under the court order (2).
Under the new IT rules, large digital platforms with more than 5 million users will have to make occasional complaints and statements related to activities every month," it said.
