Type-C charging port mandatory on all electrical devices - European Commission

European Commission

The mandatory installation of the Type-C charging port in common with all smartphone manufacturers and electronic device manufacturers under a new rule proposed by the European Commission.

The commission said it would bring in this rule with a view to solving the power waste problem. This will enable people to use the charger of their old device when they buy new electrical appliances.

This rule does not apply to devices with wireless chargers for the time being. It has to be voted on in the European Parliament to become law. It is noteworthy that in 2020, there was a voice of support for the need for common chargers for everything.

Most of the smartphones currently available in the market are available with type-C charging port. However, it is said that this new rule could pose a problem for Apple.

Explaining that the recommendation was not aimed solely at Apple, the European Commission said that ten years of talks with other companies had not been reached.

Now the number of chargers has been reduced to 30 after a long tug of war. The idea that it is convenient to have the same charger for everything is gaining momentum.
