Often wedding and wedding reception events take place in the wedding hall, the open-air park, etc. In this context, a couple from Tamil Nadu will stage their wedding reception with the help of Metaverse Technology. This initiative is the first of its kind in India. Dinesh and Janaka Nandini have made this possible in the context of everything being possible in today's digital world.
Their wedding will take place on the first Sunday of February at Sivalingapuram village in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu. At the same time, their wedding reception event is to be hosted in digital form.
I decided this when I got fixed marriage. The reception will be held at our favorite Harry Potter Universe theme through virtual reality, creating an avatar of our family and friends," says groom Dinesh.
He is working as a project associate at IIT Madras. Dinesh will also include the father figure of bride Janaka Nandini, who died a few months ago.
He said all the guests can join with exclusive lock-in given to them and choose their favorite avatar and participate in the event, which will last for about an hour. It is also said that guests can interact with others.
Metaverse?
The word Metaverse was coined by The Meta Universe. It means a digital or virtual world beyond the real world we are living in.
The term metaverse was first published in 1992 in the scientific story Of The Science of Neil Stephenson. Metaverse, he said in the book, is the virtual world in which people use avatars for themselves to communicate with each other. Ready Player One is another novel based on this Metaverse theory. Director Steven Spielberg also released it as a film in 2018. The existing online video games, such as Roblox and Fortnite, are also based on metaverse. Augmented reality transforms the environment we are in into an imaginary environment, virtual reality that makes us feel like we are in that fantasy environment. A metaverse is a place where these two combine to make real-world humans live virtually.
