It has been reported that Tesla electric cars will soon go on sale in India.
The Government of India has approved the manufacture or import and sale of 4 models of tesla's electric cars in India. Tesla's cars have been issued pollution control, safety, and fitness certificates for running on Indian roads, according to the website of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

In the first phase, Model-3 and Model Y cars are expected to go on sale. Electric cars account for only about one percent of the annual car sales in India. India is lagging behind in sales of electric cars as electricity charging facilities and loans for electric cars are also limited.
